Lynda Burruss used an apple to lure this horse into position.
Lynda Burruss used an apple to lure this horse into position.

Photographer Lynda Burruss describes how she "staged" this picture:
"When I first drove up, the horses were all next to the barn. I had to wait for about thirty minutes to get this shot. I coaxed this guys head out between the fences with an apple I was saving for my lunch. Cut it in small pieces, so I could get them all to come over to visit. It worked! Next time I go out, I'll be armed with more apples. A little bribe helped to capture this great photograph."

"I love 'PhotographyTips.com', it has helped me grow as a photographer. Love viewing other peoples' work and reading their comments. Sincerely, Lynda."

David C. Gibson feels this picture, which he has titled "Affection," could have a place on our composition page.

He wrote "Fate created a perfect flow of the outline of the dog, seamlessly flowing from bottom left then perfectly over the model's face and head all the way to her hand at the bottom right - a bonus is the perfect diagonal fit of their bodies across the center."

David Gibson submitted this photograph as an example of an interesting composition.

Kelly Marsh submitted a tip to go along with this photograph. The tip is: "Try to get as close to the image as possible and to be as creative as possible. Don't be frightened to use your imagination."

Kelly says this photograph, which she calls "Studing photography," was taken in a Hummer limo at a wedding.

Matt Alita sent us this pooch portrait and had this to say about it: "I liked the angle of the photograph and just the overall harmony of everything in the picture."

This time-exposure image is called
This time-exposure image is called "Busay 2" by photographer, Che Francisco.

Che Francisco used a time exposure to capture the feeling of motion in the waterfalls in the image on the left, which she calls "Busay 2."

Most of us think of low light and night-time photography when we consider using slow shutter speeds for time-exposure shots, but there are ways to use a slow shutter speed in full daylight. Slow film is one solution, and when even the slowest film won't do the trick, then the right neutral density filter will reduce the overall amount of light striking the film, permitting slow shutter speeds without loss of color or contrast.

Teresa L. Tal, who is with Equine & Event Photography submitted this stunning photograph. "This is my photo titled 'Freedom'," she wrote, and modestly added, "Hope you can use it." What a perfect title for such an uplifting picture. The picture was taken early on a July, 2004 morning. The tail-raising, back-lit, feisty-looking subject is, in Teresa's words "a magnificently bred Arabian foal who has a lot of sass, and is currently for sale by Summerwood Arabians located in Grass Valley, CA."

Regarding her photography, she says, "I am fully digital and was shooting at 1/250 sec, ƒ/2.8 using a Canon EOS 10D with a 200 mm lens."

Congratulations, and thank you, Teresa for such an inspirational picture. You have raised the bar for all our viewers who submit their photographs.
