Who doesn't like pictures of pelicans? These excellent photographs of Australian pelicans (Pelicanus conspicillatus) were taken by viewer David Rennie from Australia, who writes "Gidday, I am new to this but after studying your site and using tips and techniques, I thought it would be nice to show you the fruits of your and my labour. I am 46, a total amateur, but love photography. I have never done birds before and these were taken with a 400D using a 70-200mm f4." Dave submitted half a dozen photographs of pelicans, and named them creatively, with titles like "The Pelican Brief" (above right) and "See, hear and speak no evil" (above left).

Laura Potter of Newport, Tennessee took these pictures above of her one-week-old son, Dallin, and her mother's cat, Nubby, with a Kodak EasyShare Z760 6.1 megapixel digital camera. The picture on the left was taken in window light. Laura wrote, "Dallin was in his bassinet with a blanket as a background. I was just messing around with the camera while he was taking his afternoon nap and this was my favorite shot. I am not sure why I love this shot so much, but I do." She entitled the middle picture "Piggies," and the one of Nubby "Bird watching".

"Laughing Zebras" is the name Oana Robescu gave to this picture.

A pair of zebras, apparently satisfying the need to relieve an itch, seem to be enjoying a good laugh in Tanzania's Ngorongoro Crater.

This happy picture was sent in by viewer, Oana Robescu, who used a Nikon D40 camera fitted with a Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6 G DX lens.

When Tracye Gano submitted this picture of her bright-looking little dog, she wrote "This was taken on my Kodak P850. Junior is a small Jack Russell Terrier with personality plus. He provides me many photographic opportunities."

Pets are often the subjects of our pictures. They play an important role in our lives, and Tracye's Junior Baby Cake is obviously no exception. For more information on taking pictures of your dog, cat or other pet, visit our section on Photographing pets.
