Yes I know I'm getting older but wedding seem to be getting longer.
Last weeks one had the evening buffet (hog roast) started seving at 10.00pm, then we still had the first dance to do, that wasn't till after 11.00pm. First dances used to be around 8.00 pm but I've noticed over the last few years they seem to be creeping later.
Trouble is many are getting very drunk by that time of night, and if the couple are sober some drunken idiot will come onto the dance floor and start mucking about or getting in the way.
This wedding also had a new rwist for me. Before the service started (at a hotel) staff laid out the red carpet down the aisle, it fitted tightly between the seats each side. Then as guests came is staff were shouting "don't walk on the carpet!. This left guests confused as there wasn't another way or reaching their seats. This went on until a guest shouted "so how to we walk on the ceiling then?" the staff member stopped thought about it and shut up.
Heres a tip for anyone booking a wedding, book the photographer first and ask them which venues are best. We see them all, we eat at most of them, we know which ones have rubbish food. We know which ones have the best ground or locations for photos, which have the best service. Just ask your photographer which venue he or she would choose for their wedding.
You wont go wrong then.

I understand all to well the drunken types. I have had my share of them. I quietly doge out of the way and go back to another area of "casual" images. Choosing venues is very iffy. When I have shot weddings I have done the best I could with where I was. The family chose it for a reason. Crazy as it may seem.
