This is a courious one, I was playing with a Canon 90d the other day in my local camera shop and the assistant (Andy) showed me it's party trick.
You go into live view, open the menu and theres an option for electronic shutter, choose that and the shutter really is silent, not the so-called silent shutter on the drive menu (which is only slightly quieter than the normal shutter) this is totally silent.
The only sound is the focus comfirmation bleep, which you can turn off and I noticed outdoor theres the slightest sound of the lens iris closing, but no shutter sound, indeed the only way to tell it's taken a shot is the white border around the live view screen and the review image if you've got that set.
Could be very handy for wedding photographers in a quiet church... as anyone who has heard a Nikon D3 firing will know.
