I just got one. Early Christmas gift from me to me. Anyone have any tips for me on it. I wonder if I should get another flash for it. Someone said if I didn't and did indoor shoots everyone would have red eyes. If I need another flash (other than what's on the camera) what is the best but most reasonable to get?

Your question leads me to believe you are a photographic novice and you'v got a very good entry level camera. Read through your manual carefully to see how everything works. One of the features incorporated into the D5000 is Red-Eye Correction so don't worry about buying a separate flash unless you plan on taking low light shots at a distance beyond the built in flash's capability. (This will also be spelled out in the manual.)
Use you camera well and have fun. Stop by here frequently, we often impart good information to and for each other.

The cause of red eye is the flash being too close to the camera lens, the light reflects back from the blood vessels in the eye, the further away from the line of the lens the less red eye you'll get. Red eye reduction will work up to a point but I doubt you'll cure it totally with on camera flash. Ideally use the flash off camera on a stand or tripod.
