Hi all,

I know I'm quite new to here and was looking for a bit of guidance. My son has taken quite an interest in photography and he wants a way to share his photos. He's pretty good for his age (only an early teen). I advised him for a variety of reason to refrain from social media sites, like Facebook and the like, as a medium to share his photos.

So, the point of this post is, we want to start either a blog or site for him. I think it would be a great learning experience for the both of us as neither of us have any experience with websites. In doing research a variety of hosts/website design companies have come up. 1and1 seems promising(and was recommended by a good friend) but I really want to make sure I get it right. We want something easy to use for now but also has the potential to grow if my son develops his talent and interest more. I know there are sooooo many other places that do this, so getting any feedback would be great.

Thanks to all for your help!

I'd start with a blog something like blogspot, it's easy to do and free. Some website look simple but can be very restricted in what it can do, you'l also probably find the price jumps up the second year, and your pretty much forced to pay or loose your site.
If you do go for a web site I'd suggest you buy the domain name from somewhere else so if the company gets clever the second yesr you can leave and keep your name.

Good idea. I hadn't actually thought to get a domain name from elsewhere. But now that I think about it, it makes so much sense. We'll have to do a bit more research before we make our decision, but I really appreciate the input.

Many thanks!

Many photography sites are available on the internet. But select the good photography sites. Genuine photography sites will include the articles and guidelines for the readers. You can get many sites in the internet. First of all read the reviews about the selected sites then if you are satisfied their services then you can continue the work with them.

The platform that you have chosen to create the blog is not a bad choice, but I would recommend you to use wordpress or wix for creating webpage in free of cost. Its not so difficult as well, to edit the template there. All options are available there, you have just needed to add your own content or images.
