I got to do some photos at the On Stage America Show in Pittsburgh over the weekend. You'll, I'm sure will recognize Ryan. She took Platinum at the show.
To the point of the thread. This was the first time I got to use the new camera in this type of setting. I hesitated not using manual point selecting. I decided to let the camera track the subject. It did not let me down once. What a camera.

Looks that new camera really did the job. Great images. Is she doing a dance routine? Looks more like a gymnast floor exercise. Either way she looks great. Congrats on her placing. Larry

Kevin these are super as is Ryan. My only comment is that this little girl needs to fly in color.

Kevin - nice work with the camera and great shots of Ryan.

Seeing your results makes me want the 7D even more but alas, it is going to have to wait. My 7D money is going into a new head gasket and water pump for the Jeep today. Just hoping the head is ok

Thanks Larry. It is a dance competition. It is common to add gymnastic skills in their routines.

Thanks for the nice comment Cathy. I used my 70-200mm L IS lens. ISO was 3200, Av was f/2.8.

Thanks as always Alice for the nice comments. I'm sorry to hear about your auto troubles. I hope things can get turned around for you.

Thanks so much Jimmy.

I am very pleased with the results. I also shot with the 40D and the results were good, but...there's always a but somewhere, but with the higher ISO range of the 7D set at 3200, I was able to get a 1/500s shutter speed vs. a 1/320s shutter with ISO 1600 on the 40D. Granted, I can expand the ISO to 3200 on the 40D but the results are bad with the noise. It made my job easier using the 7D.

I am really amazed to see the picture quality of Canon 7D. After watching these picture I am eager to buy a second hand camera as I have not that much money to buy a new one. Apart from that girl is really doing well and you have take great shots of her gymnastic practices.
