I got so caught up in looking at the reflection that it was several minutes before I saw the eggshell.

The shot was set up by breaking an egg on a sheetof black plaxtic, removing the yoke without breaking it and replacing it with a strawberry. Black mounting board was set up all round it, including the top, to stop any directional light hitting the reflective surface, something like a light tent in reverse. This caused the albumen to be highlighted at the front of the egg where light entered the 'darkbox', producing a split reflection.
