Hi
I am having problems taking photographs of curved shiny objects. I have recently invested in a lightbox but this hasn't really helped me with this problem, as i find that with a white background the edges of some items blend in with the white background and doesn't photograph very well.
This is the best image i have so far, however it's underexposed and doesn't blend in well with the thumbnails of my other products.

Any suggestions? I also need to show the engraving on the item as well which is another minefield!
Thanks
Andy

It's also a little flat, sometimes a black card each side (out of shot) will help put a dark edge on a light subject and help lift it off the background.
I don't do much of this stuff these days so maybe somebody who does a lot of product stuff can give more advice

Hi Guys
I have retaken the image again and this is the best i can get (see link above). I have had to use the marquee tool to cut the image out from the background.
It's not great! Perhaps we could have a game of "pass the pig" to see who can take the best picture
Might be quite fun to see how far around the world this pig travels... who's want's to start?
Cheers!
Andy

Product photography is tricky especially when working with shiny objects my advice to you is that, Don't use flash when taking a photograph as it causes harsh shadows behind the object .Another thing you can do is create a box for items that will fit in a box. A clear plastic softens the light and if outside a white cloth can further do so. Get a one piece poster board cut to fit which allows a seamless shot - no lines between the back and bottom to draw the eye away from the product. check out these product photography tips for further assistance

Product photography is proven to be much diffcult because its depends on the nature of your business. There are various products which it look like are much easier for the photography well, making advertising photography simple.
