It seems it's possible to get a milky way shot with these in the foreground, weather permitting we're going back down thursday evening to have a go.
The main problem I forsee is this place is right near the cliffs edge so it tends to be windy, the milky way needs a long-ish exposure... you see where this is going...

Well heres a milky way shot with the sunflowers. Frankly the sunflowers were well past their best and it was blowing like mad.
Light painting the flowers was a PITA as there were 4 of us in a line shooting, and we were trying to avoid over lighting each others shots. I gave up after a few shots to be honest, I had to set up a tripod for one person, fix anothers broken camera, and help the third figure out his new camera which was totally different from the one he normally uses.
I'd had a guts full by then.
I'm going to get some more milky way shots once the weather gets better (too wet and cloudy now) but it wont be sunflowers, but I do have a shipwreck handy so that might work. Now I just need a clear night...

Thanks Steve. I'm hoping to go back this week, the sunflowers will be gone by now (or too rubbish) but theres a n island on the end of that bit of cliff that will look nice with the milky way overhead. It's all down to the weather though, chucking it down here at the moment
