This is a fine example of product photography carried out with subtlety, suggestion and technical achievement. There is no question that the center of interest is the tin of Russian caviar. But it is the setting that helps determine what kind of caviar. The viewer thinks it must be a terrific, high quality product when it is presented in such a quality manner and when it complements such a superb selection of seafood.
"This shot was done using a Rollei view camera with a Phase 1 P40 digital back in the Rugby Grille restaurant," says John. Diane Long was the stylist who assisted John. Her company is named Long On Style.
"We used dry ice to add another texture to the finished shot. Although it doesn't seem like much in the final shot," says John, "it made a huge difference in its overall feel."
