"This image was shot as a sample," says photographer John Cumming, "in order to better represent my approach and style in my portfolio. I chose the elements for the plate for their diverse textures and color."
"It is one of four shots taken in my studio in Detroit in one day, using a Rollei view camera with a Phase 1 P40 digital back," says John.
He and food stylist, Diane Long from Long On Style, spent some two hours on each image. "We created a stand-in plate to work on the lighting, propping and final plate presentation," he says, "and then tweaked the elements and lighting for the final plate."
