Nine-year-old Jessica shows great promise as a photographer with her picture.
Nine-year-old Jessica shows great promise as a photographer with her picture.

Jessica, the photographer who captured this picture, was only nine-years-old when she took it. She has just turned ten. She entitled her image "Pigeon" and provided this tip, "Place your subject slightly to the side and blur the background."

We asked her about her photography interests. She said "I have just started an interest in photography, I would like to have a job of taking photos of animals and mostly horses. I took this pigeon photo at a temple in Chiang Mai in Thailand."

Jesica is in grade five. She told us "There is a very good photographer at school who gives me tips." Jessica uses an Olympus camera and said "I love taking photos because it takes still images that the human eye cannot take because things are moving. It also re-creates the moments and you can take your time to look at them."

Andi Elliott, who calls rural Idaho home, received a Canon Power Shot camera as a gift, one she has put to good use, photographing animals in distress.

Andi, a former high school Chemistry teacher, says, "Now I do animal cruelty investigations and rescue ....voluntarily."

"I use my camera to take pictures of animal cruelty situations," says Andi, "and need to be sure I get detailed pictures for law enforcement/vets."

Her photographs appear in the following books, which she published:

- All They Need is Someone Who Cares ....My Life With Rescues,
and
- Dogs ...All They Need is Love and None Would Help ....Barbie, the Mother Dog with Broken Legs.

Andi places animals that she rescues in homes all over the country.

Jim Weber's photograph shows a happy moment in the life of a pet.

Jim Weber, a Florida photographer, writes "I do pet photography and am alway looking for any hints, tips or secrets I haven't heard about to make my work better."

"I like to help people and enjoy feedback on their results from my photo tips," says Jim.

The title he has given to this photograph (on the left) of his three-year-old cocker spaniel, Ruby, is "My Favorite Stick."

"This shot was taken with an entry level Nikon D-40 DSLR," says Jim. "With plenty of natural light I didn't feel a need for my D-7000."

Jim provided a personal pet photography tip: "Partial shade is a great way to get highlights in a posed pet picture."

He also expressed his feelings about PhotographyTips.com: "I think your site is great. The tips are given in simple terms so even the beginner who doesn't have a lot of photography experience can take advantage of the advice." We're glad you find our information to be beneficial, Jim.
