Uluru

One of Australia's best known icons, Uluru in the Northern Territory is a gigantic sandstone rock that covers an area of almost three-and-a-half square kilometers (about one-and-a-quarter square miles). Also known as Ayers Rock, Uluru is the world's largest monolith. It is particularly famous for the dramatic way in which the rock changes color with changes in the light.
