On the brink of extinction, this young, white-tailed eagle and others of his species seem to be making a come-back. Thirty-seven pairs laid eggs in 2001. For those of you who may be aware of the protectionist laws in Iceland, photography of these eagles near their nests is forbidden. The Department of the Environment granted Sigurdur a special exemption in this instance. This is a rare photo indeed.
