In fact it's 25 cents worth...
Coins look smooth and polished but look at them with the lens reversed and you will see they aren't when the cross lighting picks out all the nicks and scratches....
This is a full frame B&W image reduced in size for web use. It has a full tonal range and just another example of monochrome work...
