I took this photo at Longwood Gardens. I love the tree but I've had a lot of criticism regarding the white background. I was pleased that the garden staff had white textured walls behind all of the bonsai trees, "No creepy background to deal with." I've shown this photo to several of the better photogs in my club and they all felt that the white background drew their eyes away from the tree. Anyone have an idea of what to do with this background?

It shouldn't be too difficult to select the white BG as the colour and contrast are different enough from the tree (I love those bonsai trees) but what to replace it with? I'd be tempted to try an out of focus sky or woods maybe?
