I am wondering if anyone can give me advice on how to achieve a certain look on photos. I look at other photographer's work all the time and I am trying to get the same look with my photos but must be doing something wrong. They are very bright, but almost look like they have little contrast and are beautiful. Sometimes it almost looks like there is a blue film over them or something.
For instance, look at the babies and children on this site:

So, is this a light issue for me or are there particular setting I need to set my camera at to achieve this?

Wellll... with out seeing your samples it's hard to say. However, I suspect it's not a lighting issue but a post processing issue. Digital images can come out of the camera needing a little sharpening and punch. Some slight saturation and curves adjustment can do wonders. This is nothing that wasn't accomplished in the dark room in the old film days.

I concur with E. It's usually post-processing. With Photoshop, Lightroom or one of the other post processing programs available ........ most everything is possible. CS5 is amazing for taking the "Real" and making it look "Unbelievable."
