I know this was asked previously on this forum, but I can't find the thread.

Do any photo printing services still offer that foil stamping (imprinting) in silvery or gold tone metallic a kid's name and graduating year in the corner of wallet-size photos?

Sure, I can add text in Photoshop, but it's NOT metallic and shiny. I'm looking for the 'old school' way to get this done.....?? (whcc.com and mpix.com don't offer it....)

Ahhh, more creative keywords on web search engine yielded ... Miller's. I had forgotten about them! It's the "professional" side of Mpix. They do foil stamping!! I'm waiting for my registration to be approved in order to view their pricing.

Old School Way?
No one to my knowledge gold stamped the kids name and year on wallets.
We gold stamped enlargements-studio name and copyright. Then we sealed that with a lacquer coating. Gold stamping is not that durable, especially on wallets. On negs we used an overlay for name & year.
Easier and cheaper for a large order of wallets.
My lab charges $6.50 for the name on wallets. I can not believe gold stamping can be that cheap on 96 wallets?
Do it in photoshop, cheaper and more durable
I think a die cut wallet with the name and year printed on the wallet looks better. Just my 2-bits. Larry

If I don`t make sense,...Oh well.
Also-I have forgotten more about photography than I will ever know.

Yeah, I remember that Olan Mills (for one) used to put their name in the bottom corner, in gold-ish whatever material.

I did do the name/year in Photoshop; found a gradient/raised effect to add to the text.
