Pixel bender is a free plug-in (sort of) from Adobe, once installed it accessed from the filter menu, theres a selection of different effects, of the pre-loaded ones Oil paint is about the best (you can make and download more effects) You can make the effect even better by first playing around with a "wet" mixer brush on the original image.
In use it works fairly well, it is fairly ram heavy but even runs fine on my old-ish (but decent spec) laptop, so any half decent computer should run it ok.
It's got lots of potential, and the price is just right for me FREE.

I have tried it Victor but it didn't work very well on the image I tried it on, yours works much better.
I have downloaded some more filter? to add to it but had problems when I first tried them, when I checked I had accidently added some for after effects which are not compatable so I have to go through them all and check before I put them back in.

Here's one using the Tube Spin filter, reminds me of looking down the inside of a rifle barrel

Makes me get to get the pull through out. Very much like the opening on the James Bond movies.

IMHO, much of what pixel bender does might be useful for backgrounds. There's not much of interest on the Adobe exchange yet.

It doesn't do too bad a job, but you do need to find a setting that works for you.
