Unfortunately, I no longer have homework.

CS5 looks terrific but at $6,000.00 it's a bit costly.

OMG My husband just put this on my computer today was my first day to work with it,...wow there is so much on here ill NEVER learn it all! My fav thing so far is the new spot heal tool. You can drag it down light poles thru a sky and ground view and it totally vanishes in one swipe and you cant tell it was ever there.Im totally in love with that tool!

If you cant tape, glue, tie or staple it back together,...throw it away!!

I was only joking Kathy. I hear it is about $700 for the full version and $200 for the upgrade. I know a few certified Photoshop pros. They tell me that they will get the upgrade for $180 and that I will be able to upgrade from CS3 to CS5. Not sure about earlier versions but I'll bet Adobe can tell you or it'll be on the box.

Me, too Kathy! I was thinking at that price the program better take the pictures (and CORRECTLY at that) for you. Maybe even feed the cat and change the litter box!!! AND the baby's diapers...and anything ELSE that needs changing!!!! lol

I knew you were joking, JJ - after I read further! The way costs are going up on eveything else, I wouldn't be surprised at that price, tho!

It's got some really good tools in it Kenny.
Thers a new masks panel which makes masking a lot easier and makes things like extracting hair much easier, it also allows different feathering on different parts of the image.
Theres the puppet warp tool which alows a lot of control over warping parts of an image reposing people or making the forground rock bigger is now a lot easier.
Theres the content aware fill and healing, both very handy.
You can now blend the brush colours (like mixing real paint colours) and theres mini bridge (what it says) although this is having a few "issues" for some people, a fix should be along soon.

I went to a lecture on HDR given by a very knowledgeable photographer in my camera club. In the section regarding software she spoke of Photomatix Pro, the stand alone program and the photomatix plug-in. She also covered the Merge to HDR feature in PS CS3 & 4. She also covered the need to run the finished HDR through a noise reduction program. After a demonstration of these various programs. She stated emphatically and happily that the new CS5 HDR capability makes the predecessor programs quite obsolete both in terms of ease of use and finished product.

I mentioned Victors problem to another club member who is already using CS5. He said that he had encountered situations where the program did not get either content aware fill or content aware healing brush correct (he mentioned about 1 out of 5 attempts or so). Apparently the program allows for do-overs and employs a learning curve.

I think my copy of CS5 is getting closer.

The content aware fill grabs stuff near it to fill in, no suprise there. If the object to be removed is at all close to your subject you will find part of your subject in the fill. That doesn't work. I tried this work around: Cut your subject, doesn't have to be a great selection, and copy it to a new layer above. Then use the content aware fill.
