Since 1999, the PhotographyTips.com Forums have been the source of a great deal of information and inspiration for photographers, models and many others who want to know more about the wonderful vocation and hobby that photography is. Lately, Forum participation has been dropping off - a clear signal that it is time to freshen things up.

We'd like to begin with the introduction of new topics, and welcome your recommendations.

Over the years, we have noticed several posts from photographers who wish to find a fresh new face to photograph, and from aspiring models who are looking for quality photographers to round out their portfolios or to provide them with meaningful work. With that in mind, we think that a topic such as "Models Looking for Photographers and Photographers Looking for Models" would be a good starter.

We have plenty of other ideas, but thought it would be best to check with you, our users, first before making any changes. After all, the Forums are for you, and your opinions about what is discussed here are extremely important.

Please let us know:

(1) What you feel would be topics of interest to you, and not only you but also to the thousands of others out there who are seeking answers to their questions or who have something worthwhile to contribute; and

(2) Which topics currently in place you feel should now be removed.

We have no preconceived restrictions other than common decency and the belief that topics should be related to photography and its many off-shoots.

Please take a few moments to express your thoughts and wishes for change by replying to this post in the Off-topic section. No holds barred. Say what you think, and you will have an audience that cares about your opinion.

I was wondering if it might make sense to have the General Interest and Off Topic roll into one category?

Makes good sense, Steve. Fine suggestion. Thank you.

Let's hear from others now. Surely there are many of you who feel the Forums can be fine-tuned to better meet users' needs.

Dan

PLEASE NOTE:

This same topic, "TIME FOR CHANGES," also appears under the "General Interest" heading, where it seems to be attracting a little more attention.

If you wish to post a message on the topic, and we sure hope you do, please post it there so that all the information and suggestions will be found in one place.

I agree, I feel like related threads might be divided into general interest threads and others in off-topic keeping the conversation a bit scattered.
