Does anyone have any experience with MC-30 or MC-36 with NikonD300? I would like to use with infants/children, ambient shots, lowlight, etc. I would welcome your thoughts. Have a great day!

Gadget - instead of a cable I am sure the D300 has a remote release. I know the D70 did. I is like a car fob you press to open the locks on your car. Check into that.
Unless those are what you are talking about and I have demonstrated how dense I can be at times? The remote needs to be line of sight to the camera. At least the D70 did.

Steve, I had the remote with my D70. I am trying to decide what is best. I would like to fire the camera and have it be in commander mode to fire the SB800's. Really don't know if that's possible. I am thinking it might be easier to photograph infants and toddlers with out standing behind the camera. Any thoughts, anyone? Thanks.

you can do that. It is hit and miss but if you find the sweet spot for the remote it does work. I use it with my sb900 in commander mode.

Got to agree with Chance, find the sweet spot and work it. Good luck. I wish there was a remote like the ones you use on a laptop where you can be anywhere in the room.

hey patty i have the mc 36 its a cracking bit of kit for long exposures, low light shots etc, well worth the investment its splendid. it stops almost any movement in yor camera of course by eliminating you pressing the shutter release button, great if you mirror up especially.

Thanks for all the info guys! Jimmy, I had been looking at the MC 36 and trying to decide if that was what I was looking for. I love doing low light, ambient shots, also thought might help to talk to people especially kids and grab a shot unexpectedly. Looking again . ...
Thanks!!
