For the professionals back up is having a second body, spare flash etc... However how many have a back up photographer?
The reason I bring this up is because a fellow photographer of mine had a bad motorcycle accident (no fault of his own) he ended up with a broken neck, 5 broken ribs and several other minor injuries. If your a sole trader with no provision for back up your down to begging rivals or relying on your insurance.
The answer is to have a bit of a network of fellow photographers, that way if your ill or laid up theres someone you trust to cover for you.
Something for us all to keep in mind.

I am such a geek, I immediately thought of Carbonite. Not everything is about computers.
