Frustration is ... customers who contact you and state that, if you don't offer a digital option, they will just buy a print and scan it. Problem is, if this customer had just looked at my shopping cart options, they would have seen the digital options. I suspect that, because I price my digital files just a little higher than prints, they are looking for the cheapest way of getting what they want.
Why do I price my digital options slightly higher than my print options? Because I know that once I give a digital file, that is the end of the income stream for that photo.
BTW - I told this customer that I know most people don't realize this but scanning a print is a violation of copyright laws because I have furnished the print as a print only and have not granted my permission to use the print in any other way.

When they ask that question seem shocked that they got the old price list that didn't include the digital option. Reprice your prints to the same new higher level as the digital options and just be glad you got a paid gig in the first place.
These people aren't going to care about copyright laws and you (most probably) aren't going to sue

People aren't caring about copyright laws. There is one wedding photography service in my area whose web site actually says the following:
(I'd rather quote this --probably breaking copyright, oops-- than give the url.... because I'm not trying point fingers, only show an example.)
How could you possibly justify paying for photography and not own all of your pictures that you paid for? Weve never quite understood the archaic approach of photographers who try to own the copyrights to YOUR images; then 'nickel and dime' you for prints down the road.
Hmm. I didn't realize that adhering to federal copyright laws was an archaic thing to do!!!!!
I am assuming that companies with policies like this are most likely including copyright rights in their pricing, without actually disclosing the fact. Because the general public just doesn't get it anyway.

We have a clear copyright warning on all our DVD's etc but in practice you can never stop people copying the pics if they really want to.
We price weddings/events on the basis of not getting any reprints, if we do great but on the other hand if we don't we are not too bothered because we made our money up front.

I really never ofered Digital Options for one reason. I had no control over how or who would print the files. I did not want my work comprimised with a bad print job!

Actually you can think big. You can read about it in "Photo Wealth System", which is recommended by my friend Abigail Autumns. It costs seventeen dollars, which is the cheapest available price we found. The link here: http://bit.ly/9PLoKK
It is a clear and well-written e-book, and from the reviews I have found, they are very positive. This blog contains quotes from the reviews: http://bit.ly/9eiI6e
