These guys are so hard for me, and I think I just get too excited. Usually have 6 to 8 of them hovering around 2 feeders and they "zoom - zoom" really fast.
Your thoughts and suggestions for a better shot are most appreciated

Normally I'd say step the shutter speed up a bit to freeze the wings but yet showing slight motion. However, there's enough hint of the wings at the slower speed that it works well here.

It works really freakin' well Vee. Oh what I wouldn't give for a photo op like this and that purple! Great job!! We use to rent this cabin in colo. and there was hum bird feeders hanging by the office and they were so use to people, I even have/had a photo with them perched on my finger. Don't know what ever happened to it. The next year we went there and the feeders were taken down due to bears that had been hanging around.

Beautiful!! Well done. I like the soft flutter of the wings. I went to my inlaws last Saturday and setup by the feeder to take some shots. A little later they came out and popped by bubble. They now have about 50 of these and can't afford to keep making the sugar water. They used 4 lbs in one week. Got to set one up at my home now. Great, job!

Thanks, Cranky...I set up my tripod and used the wireless as they were flying around. I thought I had more focus on the bird but it seems to me I have more focus on the feeder. I'll have to try his again before they leave.

I would still up the shutter just a tad to pronounce the wings just a little bit more and yet still show the motion. Did you use flash? I see a small catch light in her eye. Vee, this is still a wonderful image.
